How We Got Started
With our primary goal being the health and well being of Phoebe, coupled with a deep commitment to the Golden Retriever breed, we began the quest to insure Phoebe had all her AKC, OFA and CAER Health clearances. Phoebe’s hips, elbows, eyes and heart have all been evaluated by professionally certified veterinarians to insure she is in top condition and has no genetic flaws that she could pass on to her puppies. Her DNA has been carefully examined and her pedigree evaluated to help insure that a sire is chosen that will enhance the quality of puppies she produces.

Phoebe’s puppies will be whelped in the Lodge with us following all of the latest science regarding puppy socialization and Early Neurological Stimulation. Our goal is to have every Cottonwood Grove puppy arrive in their new homes prepared to build upon the healthy foundation we established and become integral parts of their families and communities.

At Cottonwood Grove Goldens, we continue to care about our animals long after they leave us. As such, it’s our strict policy to only sell to individuals; we will never sell to pet shops or brokers. On miles of prairie along the Platte River and central flyway…
Cotton flies each spring, announcing the arrival of thousands of Sandhill and Whooping Cranes and signaling the warming of the water on the lake and the awakening of fish after their long winter slumber.

Migratory birds of all kinds find their way to The River Lodge - where native plants and habitat have been maintained to provide for their feeding and nesting needs.

This paradise is where Princess “Phoebe” of The Prairie greets her guests and will soon welcome her first litter of puppies.
